Cross-docking
Cross-docking moves inbound freight directly across the dock to outbound trucks, with little or no time in storage. It compresses the warehouse step into a fast sort-and-reload, keeping freight flowing toward its next leg.
What it is
What cross-docking is
Cross-docking receives inbound freight at one side of the dock and moves it across to outbound trucks at the other — sorting, consolidating, or deconsolidating along the way — without putting it into long-term storage.
Run from our 80,000 sq ft Atlanta facility, it is the tool for freight that needs to be reworked and re-routed quickly rather than warehoused.
When cross-docking fits
-
Consolidating inbound loads
Combining several inbound shipments into fewer, fuller outbound trucks.
-
Deconsolidating for distribution
Breaking a bulk inbound load into smaller outbound shipments to multiple destinations.
-
Keeping freight moving
Freight that should not sit in storage but be re-routed on its next leg quickly.
The benefits
- 01
Less storage cost
Freight spends little or no time in storage, so it does not accrue holding cost.
- 02
Faster flow
Compressing the warehouse step shortens the time from inbound to outbound.
- 03
Fuller outbound trucks
Consolidation at the dock improves trailer utilization on the outbound leg.
At our Atlanta dock

-
Secured facility
24/7 surveillance, access control, and fire prevention protect freight during the cross-dock.
-
Tied to the network
